GHANA

RoyalGate Energy entered Ghana’s Offshore Cape Three Points South East block in 2014.

RoyalGate Energy has established its position in one of Africa’s most exciting plays, deepwater western Ghana in the Gulf of Guinea, in the Offshore Cape Three Points South East (OCTPS-East) block. In the first quarter of 2014, we entered into a partnership with UB Group and acquired the asset with a view to continuing exploration, developing prospects and contributing to Ghana’s fast-growing petroleum industry. The OCTPS-East block is located amidst numerous deepwater fields that have been discovered in recent years by multinational oil companies.

Ghana’s giant Jubilee field was discovered in 2007 and developed in record time to begin production from the Kwame Nkrumah FPSO in 2010. The discovery sparked an exploration boom in the Tano and Saltpond (Cape Three Points) offshore basins, with many of the fields discovered now being appraised and brought to production. The nation has built its petroleum infrastructure quickly and put in place new legislation for local content in 2013. Ghana now supports a wide range of offshore activity, acting as a hub for the western Gulf of Guinea oil and gas industry.

RoyalGate Energy is well placed to explore and develop the OCTPS-East block and to play a valuable role in developing Ghana’s oil and gas sector.
